Although reliability analysis of structure in China started late, it has beendeveloped rapidly in recent decades. With the development of China’s economy, thereis a tendency that ports becoming more deep-water and large-scale. As a result, thereliability of ports attracts widespread attention. Depending on the actual situation, thepier were used different pick-shore structure types.The achievement that Tianjin Porthas gained is well-known all over the nation. The geological conditions of TianjinPort is mainly muddy coast. According to the characteristics of this special situation,High-piled Wharf is bound to be the main pattern.Trestle shore connection structureis the most widely used type in Harbor Industrial Zone and Nanjiang Port Zone. As aconsequence analysis of trestle shore connection structure under the specificgeological condition is necessary.At present, among all the analytical methods,Monte Carlo Method and ResponseSurface Method are generally used in reliability study for large and complex structuralsystems whose limit state functions are unknown. In the case of the small probabilityof failure, the Monte Carlo method required many samples and that is the reason whythis paper based on the response surface method for calculating pier reliability.According to the practical material, analysis file of trestle shore connection structurewas established by using ANSYS. And by using another module of ANSYS namedPDS, probability analysis was conducted. There are many factors will affect thestructure such as the environment, materials, components and the way that theyconnected with each other. The parameters of concrete, pile parameters, structuralweight, mechanical loads on the front of the pile cap, the ship mooring force andheaped loads were the parameter variables considered. Based on three types of failuremodes,which were the endurance of concrete pile, the tolerance of displacement andstress of the parapet and bridge junction, three response surface equations to replacethe function of the structure were constructed respectively in PDS Sampling module.On the basis of the results of PDS, the application of Matlab made reliability analysismore efficient and accurate. Optimization suggestions were raised to achieve thepurpose of reducing the cost of the project according to the achievements.With the passage of time, structure appears to risk probabilities of the wharfstructural resistance attenuation in the course of resistance attenuation during thedesign datum duration. In this paper, by calculating the concrete distributionparameters over every five years, time-dependent reliability of the port wastransformed into time-independent study.50-year design reference period was takeninto consideration to discuss reliability trends of bridge-connected shore structures.And assuming that this port would face terminal expansion after20years, this paperalso calculate the reliability of the pier and discuss whether bridge approach retained.Several optimization measures were proposed on the feasibility of the expansionprocess.
