According to the survey report on seismic hazards, unevenly-distributed stiffnessas well as the constraint effect to part components may have negative influence onframes, due to infills. But none of the existing codes provide feasible methods to dealwith these problems. Modeling infills in frame may be an available choice. Practicalmodel of infills are studied in this paper by finite element analysis method. The mainachievements are listed as below:①Modeling methods of infilled frame are summarized and a reasonable method isselected among them. A simulation of previous test by using ABAQUS is made to makesure the finite element parameters to be right, so that the further analysis can be reliable.②A nonlinear analysis of infilled frames with opening is made by detailed finiteelement modeling. Loads transfer paths are studied by taking infilled frames withwindow or door as examples. Influences of opening dimensions and locations on thehorizontal capacity, lateral stiffness and column inner force of infilled frames aresummarized to verify the necessity of considering opening effects.③Truss numerical models of infills with opening as well as infills without openingare pursued and verified respectively. A comparison between detailed finite elementmodel results and these of truss bar model is made to verify the validity of truss modelby setting up one-storey and one-bay frame models.④Truss models of infilled frames are established to study the influence of stiffnessdistribution on frames. The rationality of modified diagonal struts model in modelingmultilayer infilled frames is verified by comparing simulation results with experiencefrom seismic hazards.
