Investigation On The Space Analysis Of Mountain Garden

In recent years an increasing number of residential areas have been located in mountainous countryside. People pay more and more attention to Mountain Garden because of its excellent location and beautiful scenery. Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society is typical mountain garden of the West Lake scenic, for its appropriate layout, wonderful spatial organization and deep artistic conception. Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society does not only possess the pleasures of poetry and painting, but also the mood implies, embodiment of the classical Chinese gardening skills.This paper attempts to analysis the spatial organization of Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society in order to interpret the skills of spatial organization of classical mountain gardens. The third chapter focuses on the overall layout, spatial sequence, landscape level, and tour route of Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society, and deeply analyses the spatial organization of small gardens within garden.This paper regards landscape elements of Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society as a clue, and analyses the building construction, terrain use, plant landscaping and water management. The forth chapter concludes that the involved gardening skills including spatial layout, road settings and landscape construction all take full use of the terrain; buildings have flexible layout on the pretext of natural terrain; plant configuration reflects the Zhe School style of vigorous and quaint;"Xiling four spring" and the lotus pond constitute the quiet and consistent water sequence.The fifth chapter introduces the origins of the cultural landscape and analyses the techniques of scenery inscriptions and the relationship between culture and garden. The names of Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society and the spots in it are refined and enjoyable. The plaques, couplets, and odes create a profound mood.Finally, this paper includes a modern mountain garden design practices. We select No.60Villa of LinQuanJu of the deep clouds villas located in the suburb of Hangzhou to explore the association between traditional and modern mountain gardens, so as to get inspirations from traditional mountain gardens for modern mountain garden design.
