In recent years, High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission technique has been developing rapidly at home and abroad with its irreplaceable advantages compared to AC Transmission. With the development of HVDC,the noise problems in HVDC converter station have become increasingly prominent. The smoothing reactor is one of the main noise sources so that it’s very important to do research on the noise measurement problems of smoothing reactor.In this paper, Dry-type smoothing reactor is considered as the research object, and its noise generation mechanism and current noise measurement methods have been studied. At the same time,the four main problems have been found with the help of analyzing the noise database,acoustic Imaging experiments,the simulation of external field noise,calculating the measuring surface area and analyzing the load circuit,and the the four main problems are the number of measuring points, the arrangement of measuring points,the choice of measuring surface and the design of load circuit,and we put forward some proposals for the noise measurement according to the problems above:increase the number of measuring points of the contour line,make appropriate adjustments to the position of the measuring points such as increasing the upper measuring contour line and the lower measuring contour line so that the noise level measured at the measuring points is more representative;select a cylindrical surface as the measuring surface and ensure the one-meter height of insulating column,choose the full bridge circuit as the load circuit.Based on the recommendations,a new measurement scheme have been put forward and verified in the experiment. An outcome has been discovered that the result obtained by the new measurement scheme is more accurate than before so as to provide advice and reference to the future noise measurement of dry-type smoothing reactor.
