The conceptual design of bridges is very important in the process of planning and construction. It’ useful to grasp the structure characteristics and internel rules of the bridges from the whole, so as to ruduce the blindness of bridge designing. Based on the statistics of continuous rigid frame bridges that have been built or under-construction at home and abroad, this paper puts forward the conceptual design issue of this kind of bridge, and then investigates the relevant design parameters thoroughly. The main contents are as follows:First of all, the development history of continuous rigid frame bridge is summarized from four aspects which are the prosperity and decline of the T-shap rigid frame bridges, the promoting role of the continuous girde bridges, the development as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the continuous rigid frame bridge.Secondly, based on the structural characteristics of continuous rigid frame bridge, this paper comprehensively discusses the features of the main components of the bridge, the relationship between the part and whole as well as the collocation between the whole and the environment.Then, with the data of numerous real bridges, the issue of global and local conceptual design of continuous rigid frame bridge is studied.Finally, several important parameters of the continuous rigid frame bridge are analyzed in the conceptual design stage, and corresponding mathematical models are established. On this basis, taking a continuous rigid frame bridge with a span arrangement of (100+160+100) m as an example, this thesis explores the mechanical properties affected by the height ratio of pier top to mid-span, the bottom curve and the pier type respectively.
