With the development of the domestic highway, mass of remote logistics transport provide the big stage for the lorry, domestic market of the heavy-duty vehicle is on the expansion, and the effect of heavy-duty truck also grows day by day. Due to the complex structure of heavy-duty vehicle, dynamic model is built relatively difficult. Therefore, how to get the favorable characteristics of economic and dynamics and realize the handling and stability simulation of heavy-duty vehicle at the same time, make the handling and stability of heavy duty vehicle at the specified requirements and gain a favorable active safety performance is an important subject for the research of heavy-duty vehicle.Firstly, In order to grasp the characteristics of vehicle’s shock absorber, use it to establish the virtual prototyping whole model and provide certain basis for the development of the heavy-duty vehicle of the company, the characteristic test of the shock absorber is made by using the existing equipments and its properties are analyzed based on the test results.Secondly, on the basis of confirming virtual prototyping whole vehicle’s the data, the virtual prototyping whole model of a heavy-duty vehicle is established using the ADAMS/Car that is the main module of the ADAMS software, including the front suspension system, the rear suspension system, the tire, the steering system, the engine,the frame, the cab, the leaf spring and the air spring, etc.Thirdly, the handling and stability of heavy-duty vehicle is analyzed with four simulation test:the steering transient response of steering wheel step input,the steady state cornering, return-ability test and the single-line change and the results indicate that the handling and stability of the prototype model is good; Meanwhile, the influence of the front and rear suspension system’s some parameters on the handling and stability of heavy-duty vehicle is researched and the certain basis is provided to improve the handling and stability of the vehicle.Finally, a rigid-flexible coupling multi-body model is built on the basis of the rigid-flexible coupling front and rear suspension systems; the simulation test results of the steering transient response of steering wheel step input and the single-line change are compared with the pure rigid vehicle model’s simulation results, the rigid-flexible coupling multi-body model’s influence on the handling and stability of the vehicle is illustrated.
