To avoid the corrosion caused by air, moisture, and other corrosive gas when aircraft engine are in storage, the parts inside engine and fuel system have to be sealed by oil. Currently, The aircraft lubricating oil (No.8A) is being widely exployed in our air force;8A, however, was not produced a few years ago for some reasons.8A will be used up in a near future. Therefore, an alternative oil has to be developed. In this work, after a systematic review of sealing antirust oils in USA, Russia, and China, we will develop a new sealing antirust oil as alternative to8A, which will fix the problems our air force is facing.(1) A comparasive study on the performances of8B,4050, and4109was performed;8B is the best candidate as base oil; a series of experiments for determining the ability to anticorrosion indicated that8B can not be used directly as alternative to8A and a suitable antirust additive has to be added.(2) A series of antirust additives were investigated in the experiments of Russia-style moisture box and electrolyte; a best antirust additive was determined; a new sealing antirust oil was developed.(3) Performance of the sealing antirust oil was systematically investigated in laboratory, combined with a practical sealing test; the results showed that the sealing antirust oil has small acid value, low ash and carbon residue, and short- -term lubricating capability; it is able to be used in the long-term storage of battle aircraft engine and fuel system, with a similar capability to Russia MC-8pk.This work indicates that the new developed sealing antirust oil can be used in our air force as alternative to8A, which is on the way to be produced in a large-scale in our air force.
