Research On Application Of Lawn Landscapes Of City Parks In Nanjing

City park is open to the public with its features of desirable bearing capacity and rich culture, which is the best to reflect city style. Therefore, the most revealing development trends of landscape architecture is the development of park. It requires not only catering to visitors’vision and psychology, but also combining city ecological concept to build a harmonious habitat. The four elements in landscape architecture are plant, rock, water and architecture. Among them, plant plays the most important role. But at present,in the research fields of landscape architecture,the studies in plants application often lay particular stress on the woody plants. With the development of cities recently, the proportion of lawn in parks becomes larger and larger. However, the studies of lawn are restricted in the field of grass science, means the study of the lawn’s own characteristics. Above all, the further study of lawn should be done from the macro level, including its characteristics, landscape function, ecology function and the relationship of lawn and visitors.The article takes twelve typical city parks in Nanjing for instances, making sampling investigation and study. Selection of lawn locations, its silhouette, grass seed, plant disposition of upper floor and harmonies in their mixture, situation of growth and management are included in the research content. Through the analysis and comparison, we can summarize the most suitable grass seed in Nanjing. According to the consequence we can put forward the way it constructed in the park. After that, from the evaluation and analysis of the samples by AHP, the conditions and characteristics of lawn landscape in Nanjing and the suggestions for optimization could be made. At last, by questionnaires and observation of behavior, taking the lovers park in Nanjing for example, we can deeply discuss the relationship of lawn for rest and visitors’ activities and the building way of lawn for rest. Besides, the difference between lawn for rest and for landscape is pointed out, offering theory guide for the lawn’s plan and design. The research results are as follows.1. The warm-seasonal turf grasses are practiced in Nanjing widely, among them, Zoysia matrella is the most frequently, and the cold-seasonal turf grasses including Festuca arundinacea have been used a little and have bad landscape efficiency. In conclusion, the way of mixture sowing of various grass seeds is advised for low light intensity zone. Moreover, the management of lawn should be enhanced.2. Different shapes of lawn make different landscape efficiency. Round ones can become center of attention easily, rectangular ones create grand atmosphere, irregular ones form natural atmosphere. But some ones destroy qualities, for example, triangle ones lead to keep off.3.According to the comprehensive comparison of ornamental type lawn by AHP, we had the result like this:Chinese Green Exposition Garden has the best comprehensive landscape quality while Wu Longtan Park is the worst. According to the scores of each standard, we put forward the transformation advises.4. By questionnaires and observation of behavior, we discussed the relationship of lawn for rest and visitors’ activities and found that visitors satisfy the numbers of lawn, but not agree with its qualities. They think the uncovered loess and weeds are the problems which should be solved quickly. Because of the tendency of visitors’ quite activities, we should consider the privacy when making the location and design of the lawn. Combining the field survey and behavior observation, we research the main behavior characteristics in different time and space. Analyzing the existing problems from the angle of visitors’ behavior time and space, then we can know the reasons of these behavior characteristics, and then put forward the main points of designing a lawn for rest.
