Circular Ring of sediment desilting filter is a new type desilting and filtrating equipment,it can provide a new method to separate sand with water. The essay preliminary research themechanism of Circular Ring which based on the physical tests of settling, sediment andfiltering in urban industrial supply water project of HuTubi town, Xinjiang.The relation curve of the current turbulence intensity and flow velocity alone with thewater level changing has been analyzed systematically, settling separation area and settlingvelocity under the influence of gravity and the water of relatively stable promote a plenty ofcoarse particle tractional load sediment and a small amount of suspended loadsediment.Hierarchical filtering material guarantee demand of intake, also ensure that filter material isnot destroyed by seepage pressure varies with the water overflow, it can sand filter,dewatering and filtralte. Inverted cone settling basin make the particle size of0.16mm abovethe sediment deposition rate of100%, on the particle size of more than0.075mm of thesediment deposition rate of82.4%. Settling basin sediment using intermittent flushing,excreted sand accounted the total deposit volume is95%. The most unfavorable sedimentationheight more than0.8m in the place of sand sluicing, all of the sand basin can not form acirculation flushing, required manually clean. The circular layout of the filter tank filtrationbed can be a single followed by flushing, to ensure continuous water supply to wash,backwash can be discharged accounted for the total deposit volume of the sand of83%.Water velocity vector diagram, the flow line, the velocity contour map and water twophase distribution diagram of the sand basin have been obtained by the numerical simulationof FLUENT. What’s more, compare with physical modeling experiment which figured outvelocity distribution, illustrate the feasibility of the sand basin with numerical simulation, forsimilar engineering design, construction and operation management has the certain referencevalue. In a word, comparing with the normal filter, the new equipment of Circular Ring isboth benefit for expanding the scope of sediment grain size and good for energy-saving andemission-reduction.
