Based on the design of the U-shape beam with16m span in the windy areas in Lanxin the second railway lines, the mechanical performance of U-shape beam is researched. This project locates in wind area, possessing the characteristic of high wind speed, long wind period, quick change speed, strong destructive. The u-shape beam is designed for the specific situation, it can protect the train from the strong wind, and the steel structure shed frame can be installed under the web of the u-shape beam, then covering steel plate to meet the safety requirement protecting wind and sand. The structure of u-shape beam is different from the frequently-used beam. In this paper the special structural characteristics of u-shape beams are researched. In this paper the mechanical performance of U-shape beam is calculated by using Finite Element Analysis Software ANSYS. The software calculated values are compared with the Static Load Testing measured values; it proves that it is a proper method to research the mechanical performance of U-shape beam with ANSYS.By analysis calculated values and measured values, the results show that the longitudinal direction can meet the force requirement, but the transverse direction is weak and easily cracks, probably affecting the durability of prestressed tendor, and hasing potential safety hazard. It is necessary that the cross section and the prestressed tendor arrangement are improved. In the improvement project, by instreasing transverse prestressed tendons in the bottom of the track slab, changing the track slab thickness and prestressed tendons position, in this paper its influence on the transverse force behavior is analyzed. The results show that increasing transverse prestressed tendons in the bottom of the track slab and increaseing slab thickness can enhance the crack resistance safety factor and durability of the structure, raising the track slab’s position can improve the transverse force performance, but the affection is no significant impact.
