HVD(hydro-viscous drive)is a new liquid transmission technology developed after hydraulic transmission and hydrodynamic drive. HVD is based on Newton inner friction law and the power is transmitted from drive disks to the driven ones through the action of liquid viscosity and fluid shear. The thickness of oil within disks canbe adjusted for stepless speed or synchro drive. With the characteristics of faster responds, high transmission efficiency, high-power, slight impact of electric net, energy saving and emission reduction, HVD is widely used in many industrial application fields such as fan or pump and the effect of saving-energy is very good. First, HVD’s basic principle and research status of domestic and foreign are introduced. The lack of existing produces and the technological problem of HVD are concluded. By studying the mechanism of oil shear, the parameters that effect the property of HVD are found. Then the test projects and functional requirements are made based on these parameters and relative standards. According to the functional requirements, the main engine of test-bed is designed. The new functions of main engine include the number of friction disks, the max oil thickness and the driven shaft canbe changed. Friction disks are the crucial components of HVD, Friction disk design includes the choice of materials, the shape design of oil grooves and size calculation. The flow field of oil flim is analyzed by Fluent, the influences on the pressure and temperature and torque by central angle and depth and number of oil groove are researched. According to the actual working conditions, the disk hydraulic loading system is designed, the mathematical model of loading system is built, using sofeware to analyze the performance of system. The results of analyze show the system’s response is very fast and the control ability is good, the loading system can meet the requirements of HVD test-bed. Final, the hydraulic control system, lubrication system and test system of HVD test-bed are designed, according to the system requirements, the main hydraulic components, electronic components and sensing elements are chosen. Then using Lab VIEW software to design the test system, include the front panel of scientific research testing system and type testing system, data acquisition and parameters control programs designing.
