Humanized Analysis On Taiyuan Urban Open Space

With the degradation of global ecologist environment and the shortage of natural and energy resources, the living environment of human beings is going worse and worse. And the settlement of human beings, called city, is the place which costs most global energy resources. Urban area is the basic material system that human beings rely on to survive and to maintain its healthy, ecological and sustainable development is to guarantee human beings’health development. Against this background, both home and overseas urban design industry focuses on the ideals like low-carbon sustainable development, green ecological development, humanized design and so on. Therefore, urban open space with features of adjusting urban micro-climate, conserving biodiversity, beautifying urban environment and enhancing people’s communication becomes the most important building goal.The research on urban open space existing in our country puts more importance on space shaping, geometric modeling, landscape and other external aesthetic aspects, while how the main users-people utilize a specific space and how people feel and think in an area of open space draws less attention and detailed investigation and analysis. This paper, with the demand and behavior characteristics of people as its starting point, investigates and researches the Taiyuan Urban Open Space, trying to find the factors exerting influence on people’s utilization, and using successful cases in China and abroad as reference, expects to provide some valuable advice on building open space in Taiyuan urban area in future.Taiyuan features long history and strong regional characteristics and is of loess plateau landform with low rainfall level and severe living environment. On this condition, what kind of open space is necessary in our city? With this question, this paper summaries the theoretical methods and outstanding cases of national and international research on urban open space, and analyzes the human-nature relationship, human-place relationship, human-object relationship and the relationship between human beings in the urban open space to improve the human living environment ultimately. It takes the open space in Taiyuan urban area as the research subject, selects research cases within the service radius of the open space, investigates and studies Taiyuan urban open spaces in three areas of spatial pattern, perceived experience and place analysis based on the principle of Humanization. This paper applies questionnaire survey, on-spot record, five-sense theory, texture analysis and other ways to the analysis of using functions and perceived experience of Taiyuan urban open space and discovers potential problems in hope of providing useful reference for the future development of Taiyuan.
