With the development of economy,the amount of car in our country increasesevery year, car safety has become a hot focus.Use energy absorbing devcie to dissipateenergy in the car crash,is an effective way to protect motorists safe.MR technology iswidely used in many fields, the successful used in other fields have proved that MRfluid damper has so many advantages,such as small size,faster and good characteristicof energy absorption, damping force can be controlled.Make MR fluid damper used incar safety come ture,a lot of problems need to be solved.This paper will research theseveral problems below using the simulation method:under the effect of impact force incar crash,the energy property of MR fluid damper,the dynamic respond characteristicschange rule of the damper with different impact force and electricity,adapatabilityrequirement to the design of the damper structure and material under the car condition.This paper puts forward MR fluid damper used in car safety,based on research MRtechnoloagy development and MR fluid damper used in other fields.Then introduce theidea of equivalent impact come from car crash and calulation on the car crashexperiment data. Then derived and modifications computing modle of MR fluiddamper,set structure parameters of the damper by contrast two plans. Then construct thedynamic simulation system of MR fluid damper with the force from impact process,similar to car crash. Research on dynamic.reponse prediction of the simulation systemwih different impact force and electricity,analyse the influence of impact force andelectricity to the damper,Correct the impact force last time, though the dynamic responeanalysis and structural strength checking.Then, research the energy absorption effect ofcut valve mode MR fluid damper,wih the impact force similar to car crash, quantifyenergy absorption of the damper.Though simulation of MR fluid damper used in the car crash, followingconclusions are reached: the influence of electricity to MR fluid damper become smallerwhen impact force stronger, the damper’ tunability reduction.Cut valve MR fluiddamper can take sevev percent of the car crash total energy,under the impact abrasionworking simlar to car crash.When the car collison,MR fluid is shear thinning andalready affecting the energy absorption charcteristics of damper.The using of cut valveMR fluid damper in car safety,put forward adapatability requirement to the damper,such as,high flow property of MR fluid in damper channel,and these can be turethrough the design of the damper structure and material.
