With the development of building technology,a large of industrial andcivil buildings start to use steel structure. The reinforcement method isimperative,because of the sustainable development of steel building. Thewelding reinforcement is the traditional steel reinforcement method,which istime-consuming,laborious and difficult to guarantee the quality. So the new steelreinforcement techmology is the focus of today’s research.Fiber reinforced material has been passed the theoretical and practical testin the field of reinforcement,especially in the application of reinforced concretestructures. But research of fiber reinforced on steel structure is still in itsinfancy.,which has also become the direction of this study.First,the paper uses the physical and chemical knowledge to explain thebonding mechanism,working mechanism and potential failure modes of CFRPstrengthened steel structure from the microscopic point of view and then sumsup the CFRP reinforcement and restoration criteria for the design of steelstructures. Then through the elasticity mathematical knowledge,the paperderives the interfacial stress differential equations. We can get the interfacestress formula by substituting the boundary conditions to the equations. Thenthrough the bending test of seven beams (including an unreinforced beams, twonon-prestressed CFRP plate reinforced beams and four prestressed CFRP platereinforced beams) under the static load, we analyze the various interface effect ofreinforcement using the strain gauges and displacement to take into account themeasured strain and deflection of steel and CFRP plate. Which provides atheoretical basis for the future of this technology promotion and application.Finally, do the preliminary finite element analysis using ANSYS software tosimulate test beam.
