In recent years, because of clean energy and renewable energy source are developing fast,many countries all over the world pay more and more attention on wind power generation.The wind power generation technology obtained the rapid development. There are mainly twotypes of wind power generation system, direct-driven wind-power generation system andwind-power doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG). Wind-power doubly-fed inductiongenerator has been widespread in the last years, but with the development of power electronicconverter, direct-driven wind-power generation system has much better performance thanDFIG.Two stage matrix converter has been used in direct-driven wind-power generation systemand the control strategy has been studied. Comparing with conventional matrix converter, thecontrol strategies of TSMC are more efficiency and reliable. And at the same time, TSMC andPWM converter have been compared from control strategy, topology and so on, the resultsshow that TSMC has more advantages when used in direct-driven wind-power generationsystem. The circuit construction and control principle of the system are analyzed. Without theenergy-buffering device, TSMC has a more compact structure. The active power at the gridside is approximately equal to the generator side, so it is easy to control the synchronousgenerator by control the active power at the grid side. A novel maximum power point trackingalgorithm is proposed for direct-driven wind power system based on two-stage matrixconverter in this paper. Based on hill-climbing search (HCS) algorithm, an intermediatevariable is used to determine the state of wind energy tracking. According to the state of windenergy tracking, different grid-side active power disturbance will be given.System model has been built by using matlab/simulink. Simulation results verify thevalidity and reliability of the control strategy, and also show that the time taken by the systemto reach MPP is much shorter compared to conventional HCS method, moreover, the systemhas better accuracy and stability, so the correctness and effectiveness of control strategies isverified.
