Superconducting electrical technology is develeped based on cha racteristics of superconductor carrying high transport current den sity without resistance and has a global strategic significance bec ause it can provide basic support for high&new tchnology and real iztion of sustainable and spanning type development. In recent years, many countries such as American, Europens, Chian, Japna and Korea, proposed their projects of smart grid in which superconducting tec hnology is one of the most important technologies. Supeerconducting cable, made frpm high temprature superconducting (HTS) tapes, may transport electrical energy without zero resistances. Since HTS ope rates in liquid nitogen temperature, it is potentially psossible fo r HTS technology to use widely in future do to low cost of liquid n itrogen. This thesis focuses on design of cold dielecetric(CD)110kV/3kA HTS cable, which includes geometricalstructure, electromagnetic ch aracteristics of HTS materials, insulations by determining insulati on thickness, gaps among tapes, diameter of shielding layers, windin g angle range, pitch, uniformity of transport current, analysis of electromagnetic force, AC losses, thermal stress. Aiming to the futu re project of which three-pahse CD110kV/3kA HTS cable will be bui It connectting science and ytechnology city and Tugou in Beijing, t his thesis points out some practical suggestions needing to researc h in near future, such as terminal soldering, detection and monitor ing of HTS cable quench. The results have some useful referecnces f or realiztion of three-pahse CD110kV/3kA HTS cable in our country.
