As the environmental pollution and energy shortage increased rapidly, it’s so significant to develop and utilize the renewable energy today. The whole world is paying more and more attention on wind energy as a rich, widespread, and inexhaustible green energy. And wind power technology is becoming a hot research topic for scientists from all over the world.The object of this paper is variable-speed constant-frequency doubly fed wind power generation system; it will focus on the simulation research of the grid side converter on the LabVIEW FPGA platform. This paper firstly introduces the characteristics of wind turbine operation and its two core system, the control system of turbine operation and generator. Then it talks about the principle of double-fed motor operation, equivalent circuit, the coordinate transformation method and mathematical model. After that, this paper analyses the characteristics and working principle of the double PWM frequency converter, it points at that double PWM frequency converter is able to input and output in a better way as well as the less harmonic component etc. Then it talks the control method and the control objective of the grid side converter, in order to control the grid side inverter, the DC voltage should keep stable and make sure the power factor of1. On the basis of this, SVPWM (space vector pulse width modulation) control strategy could be built as the vector transformation technique applied to the operation control of the grid side converter. This method can decrease action time of the switching device, lower switching damage, and ultimately realizes the optimal control effect. Finally, the grid side converter simulation model was built based on the LabVIEW FPGA platform. DC voltage, three-phase current and power factor of simulation was realized. Simulation result shows the correctness of the research for designed theory in this paper. The design of LabVIEW FPGA platform has realized the real time parameter configuration, controller configuration, status monitoring, and process control, etc. At the mean time, FPGA module shows its unique fast and reliable characters when applied.
