China’s energy and load reverse distribution, AC/DC hybrid transmission grid buildingbecame inevitable, the problem of power system stability have become increasinglyprominent. Generator High Side Voltage Control(HSVC) can issue more reactive power whenthe power system is failure. This way is economy. Now the research of HSVC is limited to theAC system, the research of it in AC and DC hybrid systems is very necessary and urgent. Thispaper study the impaction of HSVC when it effect on large interference stability and largedisturbance stability in power system.Firstly, the paper establish the Terminal Voltage Control (TVC) simulation system,analysis HSVC control principle simply, use custom modeling of PSS/E to build HSVCsimulation model. This is the basis for comparation of HSVC and TVC impact on the stabilityin the subsequent chapters.Then use the small-interference principle, calculate the eigenvalue in HSVC or TVCcontrol system with or without Power System Stabilizer(PSS) respectively. After that, analyzethe change of eigenvalue with changing of the load.The results show that: As the loadincreases, HSVC control prior to the TVC negative damping, reasonably set Power SystemStabilizer(PSS) parameters, the advanced HSVC+PSS control negative damping control latein the TVC+PSS.In order to thoroughly study HSVC impact on the stability of the system under largeinterference. first compare critical clearance time (CCT) of system under HSVC and TVC.The result show that HSVC system may worsen the CCT of system. In connection with thekey line for the end system to send a serious fault simulation, increase fault clearing time,analysis voltage stability and angle stability of HSVC and TVC system. Simulation resultsshow that: HSVC large interference system less stable. The longer the fault clearing time,the variation level of HSVC worse than the TVC. Reasonably adjust PSS parameters,HSVC+PSS overall control is better than TVC+PSS.Finally analysis the limiting aspects of the excitation, the strength of the AC system andDC power recovery strategy effect on HSVC and TVC, then analysis simulation in largepower grid. The simulation results show that: the generator excitation limiter increases, theweakening of the AC system, HSVC result worse than TVC, HSVC+PSS can guarantee thestability of the system. Parameter modification of Voltage Dependent Current Limit (VDCOL)almost does not affect HSVC’s control effect. Large system simulation results show that theunified change system generators droop modulus does not improve the stability of the system. how set and global optimize HSVC settings, in the large system generator, is much neededin-depth study of the problem.
