Research On Municipal Construction Of Northeast China In The Early Republic Of China

This dissertation starts from the aspect of urban construction engineering, and takesthose records of Mukden city in the period of the Republic of China for example. Bystudying the developmental states of the northeast city in modern time, analyzing thesituation of the reconstruction of old city and the urban construction in Mukden citywhich including the aspects of public transport facilities, water supply, drainage, urbangreening, environmental health and lighting and other infrastructure construction, to sumup the experience of the city management, and further study the condition of themunicipal construction of northeast city in early days of the Republic of China.This paper studies northeast city during the period from the late Qing Dynasty to theSeptember18th incident and focuses on the historical data of municipal construction inMukden city (Shenyang) from1920to1930.This paper consists of three parts, theconcrete content is as follows:The first part entitled "the urban development of the modern northeast China ",discusses the evolutionary process of northeast city from the late Qing Dynasty to theearly Republic of China. This part discusses the modernization movement in the end ofQing Dynasty of the northeast city, the declination of the traditional city, the rise ofemerging city in northeast city, as well as the renewal and modernization activities in themodernization movement of northeast city in the early Republic of China.The second part entitled “the municipal construction of Mukden city in the earlyRepublic of China ", mainly discusses the managerial regulations in the municipalconstruction promulgated by the Mukden city, the establishment and perfection of thecity administrative institution, the process of city municipal construction, as well as theachievements of the municipal construction. It wants to further sum the feature of themunicipal construction in Mukden city through the analysis of the activities and cases inMukden municipal construction.The third part entitled "the summary and evaluation of the municipal construction inthe northeast of the early Republic of China”, mainly analyzes the problems andlimitations of the municipal construction in the northeast of the early republic of china. Of course, the evaluation has two sides. But there are a lot of valuable experiences of themunicipal construction in the northeast of the early Republic of China, which we cananalyze and make reference to the construction of our modern city.
