With the development of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) technology, the missionplanning is playing a more important role. Due to the complex flight environment and alot of constrains, the mission planning became a critical problem. Automatic missionplanning and route evaluation were researched in this paper. The main contents aresummarized as follows:Constraints relatived mission planning was analyzed include performanceconstraints of UAV, threat constraints, terrain constraints, etc. As the basis of themission planning of this paper, general performance of WD UAV was introduced. The base frame was made up of the information of terrain, buildings through thedigital technology. Threat modeling is a very hard item because of the unpredictable airthreat, complex electromagnetism environment and multidimensional war field. Threatmodling was implitmented considering the detecting threat and the firepower threat.Automatic mission planning algorithm base on an improved A*algorithm wasintroduced, the initial route was create through this function, and then, the final routeaccord with working requirement was gained through the route optimize function andthe route smooth function.Route evaluation is a problem of multiple factors, and several route evaluationfunctions were provided for route height check, reachableness between route and DLSand performance check. At last, the implemented algorithm and functions were integrated into the missionplanning software of XX UAV, and emergency approach route was creat. It wasindicated that the argothrhm was feasible and built a foundation for farther developmentfo automatic mission planning of XX UAV.
