The energy issue is becoming increasingly apparent, the development and utilization of new energy also received more and more attention. For the use of wind energy is particularly prominent. Due to the relatively mature in terms of technology, has been widely used in daily life.Compared with traditional wind power generation system, vertical axis wind power generation system can be taken in to the wind direction wind resources, not limited to the direction of the wind,so it does not need acquisition of winds and direction conditioning equipment, reduce costs, improve system reliability. Small vertical axis wind turbine system is generally low-speed direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generator, canceled gearbox part, so reducing certain costs, instead of the constant speed constant frequency technology in power generation, state-of-the-art variable speed constant frequency power generation makes wind energy utilization has been greatly improved to meet the current wind power generation system, high efficiency, large capacity, high reliability requirements. Therefore, the vertical axis direct drive wind power generation system is gradually recognized by society, national researchers working on related topics. In this paper, the vertical axis wind turbine with direct drive wind generator, carried out a detailed analysis and research for the the current mainstream converter topology and its control strategy, and targeted the establishment of a complete simulation and experimental platform, mainstream technology simulation.Vertical axis wind power generation system is divided into three parts:the vertical axis wind turbine, power converters, and system and network. Vertical axis wind turbine wind turbine characteristics, pneumatic principle dual PWM back-to-back power converter, and the current and voltage loop control and space vector control strategy based on an algorithm to achieve reliable, energy efficient and stable transformation. The article first introduces the meaning and value of wind energy utilization of wind power development status and technology trends. Then summarizes the maximum wind energy tracking technology, grid network side converter mathematical model of the machine side rectifier and the permanent magnet synchronous generator mathematical model to do a detailed calculation and analysis. The same time, the use of matlab/simulink software to build the wind turbine mode, grid side converter model, the machine side converter model, synchronous generator model and grid model, and carried out detailed research and analysis on the various parts of this platform and to achieve the desired results. Finally, further work are discussed.
