With the development of the CFD and its commercial software, the method of how to simulate the inner flow field of the pump, and also the other rotating machinery, is mastered by many researchers. However, the method of parametric geometry design and meshing is very difficult for rotating machinery, mainly because that the geometry of the runner is usually complex. And this is also the main reason that why the research of the optimal method of the centrifugal pump impeller is developed slowly. To find a solution, this paper, focusing on pump impeller, propose some new methods about parametric geometry molding, parametric meshing, and the method of parametric CFD simulation. The main content and the innovations of this paper are listed below.1) By using the professional blade design software, Blade Gen, and based on the theory of Bezier curve, the parametric design method of spline in the impeller is proposed in this paper, and the geometry model of the impeller is generated in Blade Gen.2) By using the advanced algorithm of meshing, the parametric meshing method of the flowfield in impeller is proposed. And this method can greatly increase the stability and the convergent speed of the further numerical calculation.3) By using the session file in CFX, this paper uses the CFX in batch model, and all the CFD work is automatically finished in computer.4) A new improved Genetic Algorithm is proposed in this paper and coded in MATLAB. A new concept of Virtual Population about GA is proposed. This measure can greatly increase the global search ability of the GA. Using the MATLAB as the master control program, a optimize system of the impeller is built by combining the softwares including the Blade Gen, the Turbo Grid, and the CFX. And this optimize system is very robust and extendable.5) The optimal design result of impeller, mainly about the speed and pressure distribution of flow field, is analyzed by comparing the original impeller.
