As a kind of street furniture, outdoor public open space is a more common urban public facility, which is closely related to people’s life. Outdoor facilities in street, square and residential zone are collectively called street furniture. Furthermore, the street furniture also contains urban architecture facilities and public facilities such as bus shelter, direction board, kiosk, streetlight, dustbin, table, seat and so on. They are contributed to all aspects of people’s lives like traffic, relaxation and commercial information dissemination.Urban public open space can meet people’s dual demands both on physical and psychological. It not only provides space for resting but also for exchanging emotion. What’s more, it improves the interpersonal indifference, enhance people’s pleasure and meet the urban identity. With the improvement in people live, they pay more attention to urban public space and outdoor leisure activities in21st century. Nowadays, outdoor public seat has become the most important public facilities which have both aesthetic and practical double value. The function of seats may as a landscape sketch in city more than general exercise or leisure action. Therefore, these design style of multifunctional public seats has a variety of significant research meanings, especially their rest, communication and appreciation functions.This design project designs the matched public facilities for the leisure and cultural square in a residential district, and analyses the trends of square public facilities designing. This design project will give full play to the basic using function of the public facilities and satisfy people’s resting needs. Meanwhile, it also fit with the square theme because of its elegant appearance, harmony color, appropriate materials and high value of viewing. According to author’s analysis, investigation, research and design, the final decision is urban public facilities’design style is tending to multifunctional sketch design style.
