With the development of society and the progress of human civilization, people in the cities have increasingly requirements for living space, followed by the dissatisfaction with material in current life, and thus the improvement of spiritual life quality has been pursuing. People are not only constantly improve indoor home environment, but also for pursuit a more comfortable and harmonious public environment.As an important component of the urban environment, landscape sketch not only represents the historical and cultural protection of the region’s special cultural connotation, but also show the city’s historical and cultural progress and development, is a symbol of the image of urban civilization.Along with the people to the landscape sketch design research more and more thorough, we may discover that the modern landscape sketch design has the various problems. For example, some of the pieces of the form of a complete copy of other outstanding cases, resulting in the lack of spiritual and cultural content, or do not have the artistic characteristics and geographical characteristics.Currently domestic historical cultural protective district landscape sketch is lack of regional culture. In view of this, Based on the historical and cultural protection area of Changsha city analysis, and using the methods of literature reading, field investigation, comparative analysis, case study, cross-sectional studies as the main research method, to research on this topic.Summarized introduces the backgrounds and the significances, the methods, and the contents of the study, and analysis on the development process of landscape in domestic and foreign countries, along with current situation in landscape, were conducted in the first chapter of this article.The second chapter elaborates the concept of regional culture and landscape sketch, and proposed that:the landscape design should be integrated into the regional cultural characteristics, sustaining the symbiotic relationship with one another. For the first part, the concept and content of the historical and cultural protection area of Changsha city were introduced, since further probe into regional characteristics of landscape sketch could set foundation for the city landscape design. In the second section, the expression of regional landscape sketch is analyzed and discussed. Moreover, four aspects summarized the development trend of landscape sketch in the future.The third chapter, the key section, provides detailed analysis for the design principles and methods of landscape sketch in historical and cultural protected areas. We focused on the conjunction of regional cultural environment and landscape sketch, the accurate identification of landscape for modern culture, and the cultural symbolic strength of landscape in a city. According to theoretical analysis and examples, the definition of culture in landscape design available, referred to the sublimated and refined process in native culture. Landscape design ought to combine both cultural values and aesthetic perception from people, and supply innovative designs, in attempt to make the landscape integrate with regional culture environment better and become the symbolic representation of regional culture. The city landscape art, as a cultural symbol, has already permeated into the entire city environment, not only providing a comfortable environment for public, but playing a significant role in improving the city’s cultural connotation and quality.The last part exhibited the further exploration on landscape design, putting forward the value and goal of it on the basis of analysis on specific cases.It concludes that this article discussed the optimum way to develop and plan the landscape sketch through the deep exploration on landscape. According to the list of cases, the spirit and cultural connotation expressed from city landscape were showed, along with the landscape effect on city character. We supposed that the city landscape sketch design should highlight the concept of regional culture. I hope this study can provide some inspiration and help to the design of the landscape sketch in the historical and cultural protection area in our country.
