By adding the functionality of train rear-ended protective to the original End of the TrainSystem (EOTS) to further improve the scheduling management system and to protect thesafety of train operation. EOTS reports the informations of the train to its before and aftertrains within a certain range through the Global System of Mobile Communication forRailway (GSM-R) network communication platform. According to the received informations,the collision prevention control module calculates the real-time train length, the spacing of thefront and rear trains, the relative velocity, etc. The calculated informations and the tail ductinformations data fusion and accurately determine the operating state of the train, then basedon the fuzzy control rules to assist control the train braking, while the data informationsdisplay and alarm. The main contents are below.Firstly, the thesis has carried on a brief introduction to the GSM-R network. GSM-Rcommunication system can solve the problems of data transmission about train tail windpressure and the communication between before and after trains. The existing coverage of theGSM-R network of high-speed trains is improved. The reliability and validity of the improvednetwork structure are superior to the traditional transmission structure, and the impact of thetrain speed is smaller through theoretical analysis.Secondly, the hardware and software in the improved device of the train tail protectionsystem have been designed. The device is built on the equipment of original train tail device,the hardware part of the improved tail device of the train tail protection system is composedof board of control panel and GPS panel. This design choices C8051F020chip as the maincontroller, TIM-LH module is chosen as GPS receiver module which receiving the locationinformation. The program flowchart of the End of train device (EOTD), GPS data processingand the Head of the train device (HOTD) interrupt are described.Finally, the control module of the train tail has been designed. The distance model oftrain rear-end is constructed, the time of safe braking distance includes the driver’s reactiontime in the established model in order to ensure that the train drivers have sufficient reactiontime to take operation on train accurately and timely, driver’s reaction time is not consideredin the calculation of the dangerous distance, assuming that the driver has been on high alertstatus. It does simulation on the automatic control system by using the simulation function ofMatlab/Simulink, the simulation results show that the train tail control module can effectivelycontrol the velocity, which achieve the purpose of the train rear-end.The improved train tail protection system protect the safety of the train running even thesignal equipments have bad times. To a certain extent solve the problems of the trainapproach warning and the train rear-ended alarm.
