With the continuous development of internal combustion engine technology, internal combustion engine will develop toward the direction of high strength and high performance. But the heat load will be also increased. Thermal load and mechanical load of the internal combustion engine will have an impact on the reliability and economy performance indexes of engine. If parts are more than their ultimate strength, it will bring some problems, such as crack, fatigue failure and so on. And it may make the engine can’t work normally, and its life will be also greatly shortened. So it is very necessary to analyse thermal load and mechanical load of the engine parts.Thermo-mechanical coupling analyses of cylinder head, engine block and the coupling system of cylinder head-cylinder head gasket-engine block of1110diesel engine are carried on in this paper. It calculates the temperature field and stress field of cylinder head, engine block and the coupling system, and the results are analyzed. The main contents of this paper are as follows:1) The three-dimensional entity model of cylinder head and the block of diesel engine are established by using UG software. Considering the influence of various factors on analysis, the models are simplified. Then, the physical models are inputted into ANSYS WORKBENCHsoftware in order to get the finite element model.2) Calculating the boundary conditions of heat transfer by AVL BOOST software and experience formula, and the mechanical loads of the cylinder head and engine block are calculated.3) Individual analyses are conducted on cylinder head and engine block by using ANSYS WORKBENCH software. And then the relevant boundary conditions are imposed on the finite element model of cylinder head and engine block. The temperature field and the stress field of cylinder head and engine block are obtained, and the results are analyzed in this paper. The dangerous sections in Cylinder head and cylinder block have been found out, and some improvement measures are put forward.4) Taking the cylinder head, cylinder gasket and the engine block as a coupling system. The temperature field of the coupling system is obtained by using ANSYS WORKBENCH, and the correctness of the temperature field distribution is verified by the test. And then structural analysis and coupling analysis are conducted on the coupling system to obtain the stress field. The corresponding calculation results are analyzed. The results show that the coupling system is safe when it works, but there are still some problems which need to be further analysis.5) Finite element analysis is conducted on the coupling system after improvement, the results of temperature field and stress field are obtained. And the results are compared with the original coupling system, it shows that the temperature and stress in the coupling system after improvement are improved.
