The bearing mechanism of slab-column connection was quite complex in the interaction of vertical load and horizontal load in the process of earthquake. Chinese and foreign codes were different in calculation method when the influence factors of bearing capacity of plate joints were taken into consideration. The calculation method in which vertical load and unbalanced moment were considered simultaneously was incomplete. The influence of geometry size, reinforcement ratio, arrangement of stud-shear reinforcement and tendon profile to the transfer mode and transfer ratio of unbalanced moment on slab-column connection remains unclear. All showed that study on above questions were quite important to perfect the design of slab-column connection. The main contents of the study were as follows:The calculation method of slab-column connection’s shearing bearing capacity with and without punching elements in Chinese and foreign codes were analyzed and compared. The result, which was got by comparing calculated value and empirical value in codes of different countries and comparatively analyzing with correlated test results, showed that value of shearing bearing capacity in Chinese code was lower and influencing factors of punching had not been fully considered in the calculation of slab-column connection’s shearing bearing capacity without punching elements, while in the calculation of those with punching elements, the values in Chinese and American code were relatively reasonable and in other countries were greater. The influence of geometry size, reinforcement ratio, arrangement of stud-shear reinforcement and tendon profile to the transfer mode and transfer ratio of unbalanced moment on slab-column connection was discussed after finite element analysis, and was compared with the calculation of distribution coefficient for unbalanced moment. It was pointed out that slab-column connection with prestress tendons should be differently treated in calculation.According to yield line theory, the calculation formula of slab-column under vertical load and unbalanced moment was given. In the formula interaction between shear and unbalanced moment, transfer mode of unbalanced moment and favorable effect of shear reinforcement were taken into consideration. The formula was proved to be safe and reasonable by relevant tests and design suggestions of slab-column connection were given to satisfy "no damage under frequent earthquake and no collapse under rare earthquake", which was required for practical design.
