Tidal energy is a kind of new, clean and pollution-free energy. There is aconsiderable progress in technology of using tidal energy after several year’development, many kinds of equipments that generate electricity by using tidalenergy have been developed successively. As the progress of the industrializationand commercialize in the tidal energy, maybe there will be the problems of thepower plant construction. How to optimize the layout of the power generationequipment is an important link, it can affect the economic benefits, constructioncosts and maintenance costs directly. If the configuration is not appropriate, it willlead to a series of problems, such as the power generation equipment can’t workeffectively, unwell-knit of the power plant construction, and so on. Therefore, theconstruction of the power plant needs to combine with the distribution of the tidalenergy, the work performance of the power generation equipment, the strength of theblade and the wake flow characteristics, and so on, to optimize the layout of theequipment. Based on the method of numerical simulation and experimentalvalidation, the paper research the problem of the flow field arrangement, theconcrete research content is as follows:First, the paper summarize the present situation of the tidal energy generationtechnology at home and abroad, summarize the study of the numerical simulation ofthe wake flow field by predecessors.Second, by using the CFD software, the paper simulate the horizontal shaftturbine array in3-d steady state, study the horizontal axis array wake flow field ofthe turbine performance, force, torque and turbulent characteristics of the unit underdifferent axial spacing and different longitudinal spacing. According to the principleof hydrodynamics and numerical calculation method, the paper simulated the unitarray under different spacing configuration, it obtains the best longitudinal spacingand axial spacing by contrasting the distribution of pressure, velocity and turbulence in the flow field.Third, the paper simulates the same spacing under the influence of differentblade rotation direction to the flow field. Given the same flow rate, contrasting theunit performance in the wake flow field, stress, torque, turbulence characteristics ofeach flow field, then obtain the best array of the blade rotation direction.Finally, the paper make the model test of the layout of the horizontal shaftturbine array, it measure the array of wake flow field velocity distribution, then drawthe velocity curve. Compared with the test results and numerical simulation, verifythe conclusion of numerical simulation, lay the foundation for follow-up study.
