Seawall is one of the most important hydraulic structure in the coastal engineering and port construction, which plays a significant role in resisting wave from broad ocean, thus preventing the coastal and port area from storm surge. With the developement of coastal engineering and port construction technology, people start to study new seawall structure continuously to decrease the stress of seawall structure and the reflection of waves, which aim at reducing project cost and being satisfy with demand of the actual engineering. At present, many researchers have carried out the more wide researches on seawall dissipation structure. However, the studies on wave dissipation effect of stepped seawall are less.The2D numerical wave channel with free surface flow has been developed based on the numerical wave flume theory of forefathers, which used Navier-Stokes equation as framework, FLUENT as computing platform, VOF of multiphase flow models and PISO of pressure correction methods, and UDF of FLUENT to realize the numerical wave-generating and wave dissipation. After verification, the2D numerical wave channel is able to produce long and steady linear small amplitude wave, which coincide with theoretical result. As a result, it can be applied to develope numerical simulation study on wave dissipation effect of seawall. The paper using the2D numerical wave channel establishes respectively stepped seawall and plane sloping seawall numerical model to analyse the influence of two kinds of seawall structures on the wave dissipation effect, based on a series of influencing factors such as the reflection coefficient, wave run-up, point pressure distribution and velocity distribution, etc.,and summarizes the influencing rule of various factors. Thus it offers a new approach for the evaluation of seawall wave dissipation effect and provides the basis for the stepped seawall size selection in practical engineering.
