Solar energy is an important part of new energy and renewable energy. At present, PVpower generation system can not only solve the problem of native people’s lives in remoteregions without electricity, but also also make up the shortage of city power supply. Aiming atthe problem of PV plants are unattended in the remote regions, a long-range system which isused for monitoring the solar PV module array is designed in this paper.First,in this paper, the significance as well as the development status of PV powergeneration monitoring technology both at home and abroad have been introduced, the theoryof fault detection in PV modules is also expounded, points out that the main parameters willchange when the solar pv array fails, and which photovoltaic component is in failure can beprecisely positioned according to the variation of data.Secondly,this paper puts forward monitoring system design, this paper adopts distributedcontrol bus structure, mainly including photovoltaic modules data terminals, junction box dataacquisition module and the data center.As the key design,the data terminal of PV parts anddata acquisition modules of junction boxes have been designed in this paper; as the design inboth hardware and software, monitoring and real time data acquisition of running status of PVpower generation system is realized. Photovoltaic modules terminal uses STC12C5A60S2enhanced single chip processor as the control core, can automatically complete themeasurement of related data of photovoltaic modules. In addition, the component dataterminal can completely embedded in the junction box, which enhances the portability of dataterminal. Data acquisition module in junction boxes uses TMS320F2808as the control core,which mainly be responsible for the management of data relay transmission between masterstation and component data terminals and the monitoring of the photovoltaic power station running state. After the centralized processing in data acquisition modules of junction boxes,all data of the PV power station will be sent through the serial port back to the master datastation by using RS-485, thus identify abnormalities in the PV modules.Also,the innovations of the system as shown below: in order to solve the communicationbetween data terminal and data acquisition modules of junction boxes in PV modules,thecarrier current loop is used for communication, which has applied national patent. Thiscommunication method uses transmission line as communication line, doesn’t need extracommunication line, which greatly improves the communication reliability and facilitates theconstruction and maintenance. The carrier current loop communication way has been thenational patent.At last,according to the test and analysis, the error of Photovoltaic modules data of themonitoring system and actual measurement of photovoltaic components data is between thereasonable error range,the system achieves the anticipative design requirements with moreusing value.
