Bridges are parts of our transportation system, and they are playing more andmore important role with the developping of economy. Recent years, earthquake hasbrought severe disasters to human society and research about seismic design ofbridge is paid more attention. In marine environment, coastal structures are exposedto errosion, which could cause the deterioration of seismic capacity. This processcould be influenced by factors such as temperature, humidity, composition ofconcrete and consistence of sea water. At the same time, it usually takes a very longtime for reinforced concrete to be erroded in nature environment. Controlling somany factors and doing a long time large scale experiment in lab is not alwaysacceptable. So this kind of experiment could make sense to the research of thisfield.Based on OpenSees, this paper mainly focus on the nonlinear finite model ofthe bridge pier. Nonlinear dynamic analysis method is used to assess the seismiccapacity of bridge piers. At the same time, eight large scale specimens are made forthe electrochemical accelerated corrosion test and the quasi-static test. The maincontents are as follows:(1) Establish nonlinear finite analysis model of bridge piers, specially focus onthe single column pier. According to numerical simulation, the quasi-static test iscarefully designed.(2) This paper mentions topics such as the variation of corrosion areas, corrosion mechanism and the mentainance method of corroded structures byconsulting and sorting the existing studies, which is the foundation to fartherdesigning the electrochemical accelerated corrosion test.(3) Base on a good understanding of corrosion mechanism and electrochemicalaccelerated corrosion test, the experiment scheme is carefully arranged and theprepapration of the test is well done.(4) With several monthes working experience in the seismic lab of HIT, theauthor designed eight large scale specimens which could match the test condition inlabratory.(5) In electrochemical accelerated corrosion test, when the corrosion conditionare the same, different specemens could have the same steel bar current densityunder the same electrodynamic potential.
