With the continuous advancement of the science and application,embedded design and network technology haved a new situation has greatlypromoted the development of traditional machine vision industry to digitizeand network. The space utilization of traditional PC-based machine visionsystems is low, and the use of the environment is severely restricted,high-power, poor stability and so on. Smart camera based embedded systemtake low power consumption, small size, high integration,which is the currenttrends of the machine vision. The thesis is based on this technology, wediscuss and research the realization of smart cameras in deep.First, the entire program of the smart camera is divided into two parts: onepart is that we introduce the common image sensor module types anddetermine to use PC1030N to design the CMOS image the sensor module; theanother part is the image processing module, we choose to develop thealgorithm based on the Texas Instruments (TI) company the TMS320DM6437the image processing unit.Then at the thrid chapter is the CMOS image sensor module, the paperillustrate a schematic diagram of the hardware circuit design studies and amore detailed description for the realization of the respective interfacemodule of the image processing platform. In addition, the image processingmodule implementation developped with software CCS and DSP/BIOSreal-time operating system is consisted of video capture module, networkcommunication module, image display module software module design andimplementation. With the network development kit(NDK),we design thenetwork communications program, and eventually complete thecommunication between the DSP handset and PC with ethernet.Last we program a software in order to solve the problem on counting abundle of steel in the industrial environment.With the specific module design and programming,we run the algorithm on the smart cameras. In the countingalgorithm, we use the DSP side image acquisition and development based TIvisual processing library (VLIB), through a series of right image binarization,opening operation, extract unicom domain components and other operations,the final results of counting displayed on VGA simultaneously, andtransmitted to the host computer to save the image.
