Combined the characteristics of the glass and ceramics, microlite has become anunique class of materials, is a new kind of material for decoration and construction.So manufacturing technology of microlite with high quality is urgently demanded.Conducted on a surface grinding machine,a resin diamond grinding wheel was usedto grind the microlite workpieces, the grinding forces were measured by apiezoelectric crystal dynamometer and the grinding temperature was measured bysandwiched foil thermocouple under different parameters. The influences of thegrinding parameters on the grinding forces, single grain loads, grinding power,temperature, specific energy were analyzed. After the surface morphologyobservation and EDS analysis, the influences of grinding parameters on surfacequality and material removal was researched. After the study of the characteristics ofthe grinding process, the following conclusions were obtained:1. The influencing factors of single grain loads can be listed as follows: grindingdepth, wheel speed, workpiece feed rate, from the most important to the least. Withequivalents of grinding depth, the maximum undeformed chip thickness and materialremoval rate increase, grinding forces and single loads increase.The influences ofgrinding parameters on the grinding power, temperature can be ranged as follows:grinding depth, wheel speed, workpiece feed rate, from the most important to theleast.2.Compared the processed surface with the original, no new substance appears.Judging from the surface morphology of the majority of the workpieces surface,bothbrittle and plastic removal mode exist.3. Under the same grinding conditions, the plastic removal mode accounted forthe proportion of the overall material removal mode can be ranged from the highest tothe lowest: engineering ceramics, microlite, ordinary glass, granite.
