Nowadays, rubber pad forming (RPF) is still being one of the most important manufacturingtechniques, especially widely used in sheet metal forming of aircraft industries due to its advantages.The design of initial blank is a difficult problem for rubber pad forming Domestic blank design is farbehind which based on the function of geometry flattening in CAD software. It takes much time andmoney to process the final part using trial-and-error method. With the development of advancedmanufacturing technology, designers can design qualified initial blank of rubber pad forming with theaid of finite element simulation technology, development cost and lead time will be reducedsignificantly as well.Based on One-step inverse approach for rubber pad forming and CAA development tool, thesystem RBSE (Rubber Blank Size Estimation) has been designed and developed for designing theinitial blank of rubber pad forming fast. RBSE system obtains believable results due to theconsidering of real process. The system overall design was discussed and several technologies duringproject development were further studied, such as core framework and functions, global frameworktechnology, mesh generation, material database, boundary constraint, prediction of technique holesand One-step inverse approach for rubber pad forming. Through the experiment, the results are welldemonstrated that the system owns the rapidity and practicability.
