With the increasing of urban renewal project, environmental problem whichcaused by the increasing number of waste concrete is becoming more and more obvious.So studying on recycling, application and popularization of recycled concrete whichcome from waste concrete is very important. Combining steel and recycled concrete canovercome the defects of the recycled concrete and take full of the mechanical propertiesof steel. It also expands the application of recycled concrete and benefits the ecologicalenvironment. So it has good social benefit and economic benefit. Therefore, steelrecycled aggregate concrete structure will definitely become a new developing directionof steel reinforced concrete structure.In this paper,eight steel recycled aggregate concrete short columns are tested underthe low cyclic reversed load. The process of bearing capacity, failure pattern andcharacteristics of each specimen are observed. The hysteretic curves, skeleton curves,energy dissipation capacity, ductility, the law of strength degradation and stiffnessdegradation are obtained. Experimental studies have shown that the seismicperformance of the specimen is affected obviously by the increase of axial compressionratio and decreases overall. It also shows that the seismic performance of the specimenis improved by increasing the stirrup ratio but the improvement is not significant withina certain range. The increase of the ratio of recycled aggregate causes seismicbehavior of the specimen to reduce but not obviously.The stirrups strain, concrete strain, steel webs and flanges strain are obtainedthrough the test. The influence of axial compression ratio, stirrup ratio, recycled coarseaggregate replacement ratio on the shear failure mechanism and shear strength of the specimen is studied by combining the test phenomena and results. The shear capacityformula of the steel recycled aggregate concrete short column when it happens shearbaroclinic destruction is obtained by theoretical derivation. Finally, for the convenienceof engineering applications, simplified formula of the steel reinforced recycledaggregate concrete short column is proposed based on experimental and theoreticalanalysis. Calculation results of the simplified formula which is proposed in this paperare in good agreement with the test results. It can be referenced in design calculation.
