Environmental problem which caused by the increasing number of constructionwaste especially waste concrete is becoming more and more obvious with the rapiddevelopment of the building industry. So it is necessary to study on recycling wasteconcrete. Steel recycled aggregate concrete composite column take full advantage ofsteel material and make up for deficiencies of recycled concrete. Steel recycledaggregate concrete column have the same benefits as steel reinforced concrete column.It makes the best of waste concrete and saves resources and improves the level of usingwaste concrete and also provides a practical method for popularizing the application ofrecycled concrete in engineering. So it has great commercial value and ecological value.This article focuses on researching the influence of various factors on seismic behaviorof steel recycled aggregate concrete short column.This article describes modeling approach which can take short column’s sheardeformation into account in modeling based on OpenSees program. It also introducesthe method of setting parameter values for recycled concrete and steel and reinforcedbars materials which are used in modeling process in detail. Numerical simulation oflow cyclical test on nine steel recycled aggregate concrete short columns is completed.The correctness and rationality of model and modeling approach is approved bycomparing and analyzing the backbone curves and hysteretic curves of results betweentest and simulation. The effects of recycled aggregate replacement ratio, axialcompression ratio, volumetric stirrup ratio and shear span ratio on shear capacity of thesteel recycled aggregate concrete short column are analyzed.Based on experiment, the parameters of the test are extended and enriched based on OpenSees program. Four groups of comparative trial composed of nine specimensare designed in consideration of four factors that are various strength of recycledconcrete, different strength of steel and stirrup, varying shaped steel ratio. Theinfluence of recycled concrete’s strength, steel’s strength, stirrup’s strength and shapedsteel ratio on seismic behavior of steel recycled aggregate concrete short column isstudied in detail through using OpenSees to model and calculate.The results indicate that the seismic performance of steel recycled aggregateconcrete short column is close to that of the steel reinforced concrete short column, sosteel recycled aggregate concrete column can be applied to practical engineering withreasonable design and reliable construction measures.
