The Study On The Plan And Design Of Resettlement Community For Landless Farmers In Guanzhong Region In Shaanxi Province

With the urbanization of rural areas in China, scholars have promoted a new modelcalled “local urbanization” in accordance with the basic condition of China. Thedevelopment of the new model leads to the losses of lands and the farmers have nosettlement, and the economic source based on agricultural production changes as well.Our government used to solve the housing problems of landless farmers by buildingresettlement communities. Until now, there is no separate research project on the planand design of rural resettlement community, and most of the designers just copy themodel of urban residential blocks without considering the living habits, traditions,regional culture and sustainable livelihood of farmers. These problems have deeplyinfluenced the lives of farmers, not only in the livelihood, but also in the spiritual lifeaspect. So the designers should make deep researches on the plan and design ofresettlement communities to improve the farmers’ living standard, stabilize the society,lighten the working pressure of the government and accelerate the urbanization of ournation.This thesis consists of seven parts. The first chapter is the introduction on theresearch background, purpose, objective, content and methods, as well as the analysisand conclusion on the researches at home and abroad. The second chapter makesprofound analysis and study on the current resettlement issue of landless farmers, and itis also the introduction on the research of plan and design of resettlement communitieswhich meet the requirements of the livelihood of landless farmers. The third chapter isthe theoretical study on the outdoor environment design of the resettlement communities. It is the preliminary establishment of the humanized, sustainable andrational resettlement communities plan and design. Then the current problems of theresettlement communities are also analyzed and studied. The fourth chapter is theinvestigation and case study on the real living condition of the farmers in Guanzhongregion in Shaanxi province. This part is a further study on the living habits of farmers inthe tradition villages, so as to make the groundwork for the following researches. Thefifth chapter is the discussion on the group issue, dynamic and static transportation ofthe current resettlement communities, and makes a comparison with the living habitsthat mentioned in the fourth chapter, so as to make a further study on the relationshipbetween the sustainable livelihood of landless farmers and the resettlement plan design.The sixth chapter is the case study on the resettlement communities in the Airport NewCity. This part analyzes the shortcomings compared with the theories and proposes thepartially enclosed group model, accessible and tillable green spaces, rational andhumanized dynamic and static transportation system, performing plaza with ruralcharacteristics, the design concept which caters to the local house type design, and aseries problems of maintaining the original living habits as well as sustainablelivelihood of the landless farmers. The seventh chapter is the conclusion of the thesisand the preview of future study.
