The Study Of The Wei River Ecological Corridor In The Xi’an Metropolis

In China,over2/3of the city are built next to the river. Rivers gave birth to thehuman civilization and the city, but the city’s development and construction oftendestroy the river’s ecology. Xi’an city is rich in natural resources, it has eight riversin and around the city, the first one is called Wei River. Since ancient times, the WeiRiver is closely related to Xi’an urban construction.After the20thcentury, Xi’an has speed up its development, the ecologicalenvironment of the Wei River and its tributaries are destructed by city’sconstruction. Since the year2009,Guanzhong-Tianshui economic zone planningand Xi xian new area planning have been implemented, Xi’an will be coming into ariver crossing city from waterfront city, and the Wei River will be a river in Xi’an.The relationship between city and river is already becoming a urgent problems to besolved in Xi’an city’s development at this new era.In this paper, take the relationship between the city and the river for clues,‘theWei River ecological corridor in the Xi’an metropolis’ as the research object, do theresearch in the context of Xi’an’s urban development:First,collate the existing data, summarize the relations between city andriver,conclude the river ‘s effect on the city’s construction, clarifies the meaning ofriver ecosystem to the city’s development.Second, analysis the material,find theaffect of Xi’an urban evolution to the Wei River,and explaine the significance ofthe Wei River’s ecological functions to the Xi’an City’s future.Combine the two parts of the study, through the field research on ecology,landscape and city’s construction in the Wei river’s Xi’an part, propose the guidingprinciples of ‘the Wei River ecological corridor in the Xi’an metropolis’: restore the Wei River’s ecological functions as a priority, inhert the Xi’an city’s history,combine the cultural landscape and the ecological landscape, creat a green core inharmony of the people and the river. Under these, develope a set of a targeteddesign strategies.At last, trying to use the research results to the Guanzhong area, propose a WeiRiver ecological corridor in Guanzhong area, and look forward that the results mayreferenced in the Guanzhong area’s ecological construction someday.
