With the continuous emergence of novel buildings,the structural style becomesmore and more complex which brings some problems when doing structural analysisespecially doing the analysis of seismic performance. In order to meet the unique shapeand complex spatial layout of the building, the structural style of these buildings arealways new and variable, so its necessary for specialized analysis and study. With therapid development of computer analysis technology and FEA program,this can greatlyfacilitate the structural analysis of complex buildings and speed up the development ofthe technology analysis and design.In this dissertation,a complex steel frame-spherical exhibition hall is considered.Firstly,executing modal analysis of the structure by Midas-gen to research its dynamiccharacteristics and analysis the vibration form,then the rigidity arrangement and tosioneffect would be evaluated.Secondly,executing spectrum analysis to study the dynamic response of thisstructure under moderate earthquake with both X direction and Y direction areconsidered,obtain the deformation style, maximum displacement, maximum story driftand interlaminar shear force, and check them if the results meet the specificationrequirements, then the anti-sesmic capabilities of two different directions would becompared to see the difference of deformation and stress distribution between X and Ydirection.Thirdly,in order to get the elastic responses of the structure under moderateearthquake,elastic time-history analysis is performed. To compare the responses of thestructure under different earthquake waves, this article selected three earthquake waves (one man-made wave and two natural waves)Three seismic waves are inputtedrespectively to get the time-history displacement of the top floor, the relativedisplacement and interlaminar shear force,then comparing with the spectrum analysisto find the weak parts in the structure and get some results for project design.Fourthly,in order to get elasto-plastic responses of the structure under heavyearthquake,the requirement spectrum,capacity spectrum and property point are givenwhile static inelastic analysis of the structure is done by applying Pushover analysis.Pushover analysis results show that structure has a good ability of inelastic deformation.Finally,the evaluation of the seismic performance is made.
