Vane pump is the dynamic component which provides pressure oil for hydrauliccircuit, its performance directly affects the efficiency and stability of the entirehydraulic circuit, vane pump is one of the main sources of noises in the hydraulicsystem too. Optimizing the structure design of the vane pump is an effective method toimprove its characteristics and reduce noises.All aspects of design, manufacture and assembly of a vane pump have importantinfluences on vane pump’s characteristics. On the base of analyzing the vane pump’smain problems appear when it is working, the paper made a study of the main causes ofabrasion, revelation, flow fluctuation, pressure fluctuation, noises and tremor. The highquality stator inner contour curves and pre-compression curves were analyzed. Theaffection of damping groove with different shapes and sizes exerted on outputcharacteristics of vane pump is discussed.This paper selects double-acting vane pump as the research object and uses themethod of combination of theoretical analysis, simulation analysis and experimentalresearch. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was applied to the field of doubleacting vane pump. Double acting vane pump’s fluid flow was numerical simulated byusing commercial fluid simulation software. Export instantaneous flow pulsation andinstantaneous pressure pulsation at different conditions was obtained. It is shown thatthe reason of flow and pressure fluctuation in vane pump is because of “high pressurereflux” phenomenon happens when the closed volume of low pressure gets into the highpressure volume, the high-pressure reflux phenomenon in vane pump is also the majorreason causing fluid noises. By applying high degree transition curves and pre-compression curves, outflow and pressure fluctuation in vane pump obviously reduced, amore satisfactory result has been achieved. Experimental test on the basic performanceof the double acting vane pump was carried out. The Experimental data and simulationdata are basically consistent. The effectiveness of the simulation method was verified. The affection of different number of vanes, rotate speed variation, system pressure andoil bulk modulus on vane pump was researched using the simulation method, the dataand conclusion obtained has some guidance significance on the design of vane pump.
