Rutting caused by the repeated load in the high temperature and channelization on theasphalt pavement will cause a serious safety problem about driving and other damages of thepavement. Thus, rutting has been considered as the premary damage. The current reseachersfocus on the technical measures of prevention and control, seldom on the technical reseachreferring to the generation mechanism and the geometric range of depth. This paper introductsthe defination of “Rutting Domain” and determine the range of rutting, by studying the stressand temperature distribution of the inner layer of pavement structure, will promote the abilityof anti-rutting for the asphalt pavement directly.First of all,the article using the test technology of pavement temperature field on theasphalt paverment, studying the distributed disciplines of the internal road structure abouthigh temperature state of asphalt pavement, meanwhile, simulating the pavement temperaturefield on the asphalt paverment with the software of Finite Element Analysis,combine the testresults with simulating, determining the area of high temperature on the asphalt paverment;Secondly, according to the indexes of the maximum principal stress and maximum shearstress, simulating the distributed disciplines of the internal road structure about the stress fieldfor asphalt pavement, when there are different temperatures in the pavement and differentloads in the pavement structure. Thirdly, according to the effect that the temperatures have onthe shear strength, combining with the high-level area of the stress field and temperature fieldof the internal road structure, determining the area of rutting. Lastly, according to thesummary of the existing technology about resisting rutting, developing the ability of resistingrutting by the former defined area and choosing the widely used modification technology.This paper draw a conclusion that the domain of rutting was about0~12cm depth to thepavement,which is consistant with the recognization of the rutting and the domain ofanti-rutting.
