Ground fissure is a typical geological disaster. Ground fissure are well developed andwidely distributed in China, which poses a potential threat to the present China’s large-scalehigh-speed railway construction. There are21ground fissures with a certain scale along theDatong-Xi’an Railway Passenger Dedicated Line which go through Taiyuan, Linfen andYuncheng Basins and36intersections with Datong-Xi’an passenger dedicated lines. Theseground fissures are strong active now, which will bring serious security hidden danger tohigh-speed railway (Datong-Xi’an passenger dedicated lines) under construction. Therefore,to study the effect of active ground fissures on High Speed Railway has a very importanttheoretical significance and engineering practical value. In this paper, with engineering background of Datong-Xi’an Railway PassengerDedicated Line. First the basic characteristics, genetic model of the basic characteristics andgenetic model were introduced, and then this paper described in detail focus on developmentcharacteristics, level of activity and hazards. the force-deformation characteristics, failuremode and sphere of influence were studied through two sets of large-scale physical model testwith the scale of1:20and1:5. The high-speed railway subgrade deformation and failurecharacteristics under the action of the ground fissure movement was disclosed, and the scopeof influence of high-speed railway subgrade was determined. With MIDAS/GTS finite element program, the numerical analysis model is established. The numerical simulation of the model test of high-speed railway subgrade going throughactive ground fissures with angle60°and15°respectively were carried. The Deformationand failure of structural and geotechnical from displacement, internal forces and macroscopicdeformation were analysed. And compared with the model test results obtained, as a modeltest optimization and supplement, which shows the results are consistent.Model test and numerical simulation results provide scientific theoretical guidance anddesign basis for the design, construction and safe operation of the Datong-Xi’an RailwayPassenger Dedicated Line and followed other lines of similar projects. Meanwhile, the testresults can be presented as the reference for railway and highway construction in activeground fissures areas.
