The water pipeline project are the basic facilities project of construction and socialdevelopment and the important guarantee of the social and economic development. With theimprovement of people’s living level and the development of city constructions, the watersupply and water requirements are getting higher and higher. The inter-basin, long distancetransmission and distribution water become effective measure of ensure the life andproduction use cause currently our country is short on resources of water supply and uniformfor the spatial and temporal distribution. Due to in pipeline project the prone change of watervelocity will lead to water hammer accident. There are many factors affect the accident, oneof the important factors is water hammer wave velocity. The paper through research thefactors of water hammer wave velocity and the effect of wave velocity to water-hammer wavevelocity, analysis and summary the effect of the law of water hammer wave velocity and giveeffective measures of improving pipeline water hammer wave. So, analyze the change of thetransient to the hydraulic transition process has a great guide for the safe operation ofpipelines.Many factors affected water hammer. Lots of factors cannot quantitatively express soonly can approximate analysis it. The paper according to study each impact factor to the sizeof the wave velocity of water hammer, make a deeper understanding the wave velocity ofwave hammer and it commonly uses calculation expression. In practical engineering, the mostcommon cause the wave velocity of water hammer changed factor is the change of pipingmaterial and pipe diameter, which the change of piping material is more obvious.
