The status quo of water resources in our country is the shortage of resources and the distribution is not balanced. In recent years, with the development of economy and the improvement of people’s living standards, more and more water is required.In order to solve the uneven distribution of water resources and to avoid problems due to the shortage of water resource limit the development of regional economy, our country through the inter-basin water transfer project to imply water dispatching and redistribution, such as the south-north water diversion project, the Yellow River in shandong jiqing, shaanxi in the Yellow River into the jin and so on. In long distance water conveyance pipeline, the flow velocity of upheaval can easily cause water hammer accident, water hammer accident often bring serious consequences such as tube. So in recent years, people begin to pay close attention to water hammer. The wave velocity is one of the important influence factors in many factors that affect water hammer. This article mainly analysis of affecting factors of water hammer wave velocity and the study of the influence of the hydraulic transition process,summary the effect of the law of water hammer wave velocity and give effective measures of improving pipeline water hammer wave.so,analyze the change of the transient to the hydraulic transition process has a great guide for the safe operation of pipelines.This paper studies on the definition and factors of water hammer wave velocity,make a deeper understanding of the wave velocity of water hammer.In engineering practice, the most common causes the wave velocity changed factor is piping material and pipe diameter, which the change of piping material is more obvious. The paper combines piping material overall change example project and piping material partly change example project to study the effect of wave velocity and its change to the hydraulic transition process. The result shows:When the pipeline occurred cut-out bridge water hammer,the water boost increased by the increasing of wave velocity;when the situation don’t happened,the effect is not obvious.If the piping material changes in partial,it will result new fluctuations of water hammer cause the water hammer occurs scatting phenomenon at the boundaries which lead to fluctuations in volatility. So the hydraulic transient should be calculated again when the wave velocity changed.The paper has a reference value on the optimization of water pipe and the protection of water hammer.
