The highway of our country has had a period of rapid development in the past decades.While the highway develops rapidly, the requirements of construction quality are alsoincreasing. What’s more, the quality of road construction affects the quality of the entirehighway construction project, the thickness of the loose laying layer has a great effect on theperformance and the life of the molding road surface and the use of the material. Due to thelack of the real-time detection means loose laying thickness, its thickness tends to deviatefrom the technical requirements, so the real-time detection for the thickness of the looselaying layer has an important significance.A measuring instrument based on the AT89C52microcontroller for the loose layingthickness of road is designed in this paper. Firstly, it has an overview of the development ofthe thickness measurement technology, followed by the analysis of the characteristics of theultrasonic sensor and the brief narrative of the working principle of ultrasonic thickness andthe measuring instrument of the loose laying thickness. The focus of this paper is thehardware design and the software design of measuring instrument for the loose layingthickness. The part of the hardware design use modular design, including ultrasonictransmitter circuit, ultrasonic receiver circuit, the temperature detection circuit, thedisplacement measuring circuit and the LED display circuit, the software portion comprisesoverall design, the interrupt subroutine, the emission and reception subroutine, thetemperature detecting subroutine and display subroutine. In summary, this thesis includestheoretical analysis, system design, system hardware design and system software design andso on.Then this paper conducts the experimental verification for the measuring instrument of theloose laying thickness. It simplifies the system under the limited conditions, and conductsrelated experiments and data analysis, and obtains that the experimental data achieve varioustechnical indicators form the analysis of the results, and then makes the measurement error analysis. Finally, the article proposed a few areas for improvement, and made severalsuggestions for the followed research.
