With the rapid development of hydropower units in China,the capacity and the sizeof structure are also increasing.Therefore, the stability of hydropower units become aparticularly important issue.Research on vibration problems of hydropower units can beable to ensure the more reliability of its operation,also can avoid or mitigate vibration ofthe unit effectively.The aims of this article is that analysis of main components ofhydropower units based on the finite element method and appliy research to faultdiagnosis system to achieve intelligent fault diagnosis.Firstly,this article briefly describes the basic idea of the finite element method andthe solution process,detailing the basic theory of the structural dynamics analysis.Study on vibration characteristics of hydropower units provide a method for the finiteelement method and the basic dynamic analysis as the theoretical basis of the coreideas.Then by using SolidWorks software to achieve the geometric modeling of runnerand spindle Department, using programming language APDL to achieve the geometricmodeling of the generator rack.By ANSYS software,geometric model will be generatedas the finite element model and calculate the main components of hydropower units in thetop20natural frequencies and the corresponding mode shapes.According to the results,itis able to analysis of the value of each component’s natural frequency as well as itsvibration characteristics.By calculating common excitation source frequency and thenatural frequency of the main components of hydropower unit,we can study thepossibility of occuring resonance phenomena by exciting.Finally elaborating in thestructure of the expert system and its basic analysis process in detail,the expert system isapplied in the fault diagnosis of vibration problems of hydropower units and design faultdiagnosis expert system of the hydropower units.The main study of this paper can provide guidance to avoid or predict resonance ofhydropower units and be foundation for nonlinear dynamics problems of hydropowerunits.
