With more and more power need for the modern society, the security and stabilityrequirements of our power system equipments get higher and higher. However, in thelong-term running, high voltage switch cabinets may break down because of insulatingproperty lower, overheat, misoperation and so on, and once happen, the failure will bringsignificant loss. Along with the rapid development of electric power system as well as theproposing of the smart grid construction in our country, the technology of integrated on-linemonitoring and fault diagnosis for smart grid is increasingly urgently demanded, making theintelligent primary device in the applying to various aspects of electrical power systembecome the hot topic in the future development of power grid. At the same time, realizingintellectualization for high voltage switch cabinets will play a good role on promoting theconstruction of smart grid.At present, the products of high voltage switch cabinets which have been developed inthe market can’t meet the requirements of the power system because of single function,complex routing, inconvenient installation. Following the putting forward of the smart gridwhich makes Clear that all kinds of operation information in substation are needed toconform to the IEC61850agreement and upload to information integration platform, thispaper developes a kind of intelligent switch cabinets based on the internet of things, mainlyincluding three segments of wireless communication module, intelligent monitoring host,intelligent switch cabinet IED.The topic applies the internet of things like RFID、zigbee andso on to the design and realization of intelligent high-voltage switch cabinet,making whichnot only possess the functionality of traditional switchgear,but also achieve the features ofintelligent recognition, monitoring and control. The project adopts new sensor technology tomeasure switch cabinet state, which will be made corresponding processing to make real-timeaction and shown on panel of the monitoring host where the state messages are sent bywireless communication module. In this way, the project realizes the in-place processing anddisplay for the high voltage switch cabinet information, then sends the results to intelligenthigh-voltage switch cabinet IED followed protocol of IEC61850,so, the remote controlbecomes true after all the data is transmitted to information integration platform byfibre-optical communication.. The paper provides the detailed design of the wireless communication module, intelligentmonitoring host, intelligent switch cabinet IED including software and hardware. Amongthem, the wireless communication module is devised with control chip MC9S08QG and RFchip MC13192.The control chip MC9S08QG gathers the temperature collected by DS18B20through the single bus and then communicate by SPI with RF chip MC13192,which can sendthe information out in wireless way with the antenna. In the wireless receiving module, theMC13192receives data via the antenna and sends them to MC9S08QG that will transmit tomonitoring host through the serial port. Intelligent monitoring host uses singlechipC8051F020as main controller to deal with all sorts of equipment operation states in switchcabinet and display with the LCD, digital tube and LED lamp, make the correspondingaction and voice prompt as well, and then upload the monitoring data of switchgear to switchcabinet IED. This type of switch cabinet IED adapts to all sorts of different monitoring unitinside the switchgear, and meets the requirement of the IEC61850protocol and intelligentswitchboard, facilitating the remote processing of data for the monitoring center. Moreover, ittakes various communication modes all together, realizing data communication and controlbetween each monitoring unit and IED. Besides, the IED utilizing the structure of DSP andARM is provided with highly integrated functions such as protection, measurement,processing, communication and so on, satisfying the demand of real-time and high-speedcommunication for intelligent switch cabinet.At last, the paper makes a statement about the experiments of the design, the resultsshows that the whole project has overcome these problems like high voltage in switchboard,strong electric field of large current, severe electromagnetic radiation, the interference of highfrequency noise and harmonic. The data transmission is real-Time, stable and reliable.Bringing about intelligence, informatization, high reliability and low cost to the switchcabinet will promote the progress of substation intelligentialize well and possesse importantsignificance.
