Two-dimensional ultrasound is not intuitive and a lot of three-dimensionalinformation which can be obtained from3D ultrasound can not be reflected from2Dultrasound. But3D ultrasound devices has drawbacks in terms of portability.The purpose of this paper about OMAP-based three-dimensional ultrasoundimaging is to achieve3D ultrasound imaging in the embedded platform so that3Dultransound imaging system not only has good performance but also has thecharacteristics of small size and portability, in addition embedded operating systemuses Android which has good user interaction.First, the paper introduces the software and hardware platform of the3Dultrasound imaging system, and the process of transplanting Android on theOMAP3530mini board.Secondly,it introduces the traditional3D ultrasound imaging process whichputs the ultrasound image processing and reconstruction of3D ultrasound volumedata into CPU to complete.And then,it proposes improved procedure of the traditional three-dimensionalultrasound imaging process. In this paper, the ultrasound image processing,3Dultrasound volume data reconstruction and3D ultrasound data rendering areintegrated and completed in the GPU of OMAP3530. In fact, ultrasound imageprocessing and three-dimensional ultrasound volume data reconstruction both arewith parallel characteristic that each pixel or volume data processing are mutuallyindependent, so putting them into GPU to complete just play the powerful parallelprocessing capability of GPU.At end, the paper introduces the Android application of the3D ultrasoundimaging which uses the ARM and GPU intergrated on OMAP3530, makes successto achieve3D ultrasound imaging in embedded platform with a relatively weakpower processing, and presents experimental result.
