This paper deals with the heating/cooling load characteristics of hospitaloutpatient service building and typical residential building. In this paper, hospital outpatient service building and multi-story residentialbuilding models were constructed according to the national energy-efficiency standardin China’s severe cold and cold zones. Then8important factors were filtered accordingto related literature and professional knowledge. Simulations were conducted viaorthogonal design test and factorial experiment.Secondly, the software EnergyPlus was used to calculate the dynamic annualheating/cooling load on the basis of orthogonal design test and factorial experiment.Forhospital outpatient service building, Harbin, Beijing and Xi’an were regarded as therepresented cities to calculate the heating/cooling load. Heating/cooling load index andenergy consumption of every month are obtained. For multi-story residential building,Shenyang was regarded as represented city. The cooling load index of N-S andE-Wlong multi-story residential buildings are35-53W/m~2and45-63W/m~2,respectively. Heating load indexes are40-64W/m~2, regardless of orientation. Inaddition, energy consumption of every month is obtained. Those data can be applied toprovide reference values for energy consumption evaluation for the actual hospitaloutpatient service building and multi-story residential building. At last, the significant factors of heating/cooling load were obtained according toanalysis of variance and F distribution, which can provide basis for energy saving ofair conditioning. In addition, simplified formulas for multi-story residential buildingwere obtained via regression method and the errors of formulas were calculated. Theycan be applied for multi-story residential buildings under some conditions.
