With the rapid development of highway construction in China, the requirement ofthe road is no longer just to meet the traffic, traffic safety problems on pavement is paidmore and more attention. Especially the asphalt pavement accounts for more than90%of the milage of the built highways in our country. Improving road safety, particularlythe anti-polishing ability of asphalt concrete pavement, is the focus of the scholars athome and abroad. In the early days after the construction, the anti-sliding indexesawlays meet the requirements, but with the accumulation of the traffic load, pavement’spolished performance would be gradually decayed, so it is necessary to clarity theattenuation law of the polished performance of asphalt mixture.Firstly, Mechanism of skid resistance and influencing factors of the pavementpolishing characteristics are annlyzed seriously. Based on the existing domestic andforeign polishing equipments and researching results about the skid resistanceattenuation law on R&D, the indoor accelerated wear equipment which is wheeledaccelerated polishing machine has been developed, and carried out effectively tests andanalysis on the parameters of this device, thereby the testing method used on theLaboratory research is determined.Secondly, Select five kinds of stone material from different places to use in theresearch, and measure the mineral composition, mechanical properties and the coarseaggregates surface texture. Use three different gradations: AC-13, SMA-13andOGFC-13, to make the wheel rut test samples.Thirdly, All specimens are polished by the wheeled accelerated polishing machine,The pendulum swing value (BPN) and structural depth (MPD) of the surface are testedper30mins. After the experiments, regression curves of skid resistance index changingwith time are gotten, using exponential model to fit these skid resistance index. And theeffect factors and the decay curves in different stone types, different gradations, asphaltmaterials and different conditions of the tests in polishing performance are analyzed.At last, This paper also makes norelational analysis on BPN, the initial and finalvalue of texture depth and the attenuation amplitude, and makes relevance rankingabout the factors which have been effected on the polished ability, contains stonemineral composition, mechanical properties, and provides the basis for the aggregateselection during asphalt mixture design...
